Micah woke me up the other day because he HAD to show me something.  I went out and he pointed outside to my bike.  In the spokes of the back wheel was a dead, twisted pigeon.  I have no idea how it got there, but let's just contribute that kill to me, because it was my bike. Score!

We're Alive!

Hey there. I'm back to the blogging world.  Here's some of the highlights of the past few weeks:

~Horseback riding and camping!  SO fun...until my horse ran me through some very solid branches.  Shorty and I bonded though and I apologized for calling him stupid. We roamed all around the desert mountains, saw indian drawings and handprints, old houses that people used a hundred years ago, and even part of a piano just chilling in the desert.  I would love to do this again sometime.

~I milked a goat! I'm pretty much a farmer now.  Our friends (the ones with the horses) parent's have a bunch of goats and cows and horses and such and before we went on our trip we got to help feed and milk and herd the goats.  There were a bunch of baby goats and they were SO cute!
~Micah's been studying like crazy for the MCAT this Saturday.  On a practice test he took awhile ago he got a better score than he did on the last test he took! He's so smart. I'm sure he's going to do great.

~We went to Costco on Saturday--I love Costco. Micah let me buy a huge bag of ravioli and I let him buy a huge bag of pancake mix. We're good at compromising.

~Micah just found out that I don't like to talk on the phone. Apparently after a few minutes talking (to anybody) I say "Okay, well I'm going to go."  Don't get offended if I do this to you. I just dont like talking on the phone.  I don't really know why, but oh well.  Micah, the chatterbox, thinks I'm weird.

~I'm not sure what else to say.....maybe I'll post some pictures soon! 

~Oh yeah! Samuel and Stephanie are coming to visit next week!  It'll be good to see them.  It's been 9 months since we left Utah-wow!

Europe or bust!!!!

In our Institute building there is this huge old-looking map of the world.  Micah and I always stop to admire it and talk about where we would go if we had the money.  The last time we were talking about it we thought about backpacking around Europe.  At the time it was just talk--something exciting to talk about that probably would never happen for a long, long time. 

Well, today I decided.  We're going. Next summer right before medical school. Micah doesn't know yet, but I KNOW he will be all for it.  He probably thinks that I would never actually do it, but I'm going to prove him wrong. I might be a little crazy, but I want to go. I want to do something amazing that we can talk about for the rest of our lives.  I want to be like Loreli and Rory (if you know what I am referencing, you are outstanding). 

Now, I need your help.  There are birthdays coming; Christmas is coming.  Hello people! Perfect opportunity to help us toward our goal instead of buying us another gift!

EUROPE OR BUST!

On a completely different note, why do people always backpack in Europe? Why do you never hear of people backpacking across Asia or Africa or Antartica?!? 

Free Knife!!

For my birthday, my newspaper job gave me a $25 gift card to REI. Well today I decided to go to REI and buy me another knife. I wanted one where you touch a button and the blade flips open by itself. I found some but they were more money than I was allowed to spend. I did find a couple of smaller knives that I liked. I spent a good 20 minutes staring at these knives trying to decide which one I wanted. As I was about to make a decision on which knife to get a lady walks up to me and asked me what I was looking for in a knife. I told her what I was looking for and she told me to hold on for a minute. She started to rummage through her purse. I was wondering what she was up to and then she pulls out a knife! To cut me?! To show me?! NO...to GIVE it to me!!!! It is a Benchmade knife. And it flips open. I do have to give a little push with my thumb to have it flip but its close enough for me. Its a $150 knife!! And she just gave it to me. She said that she likes doing random acts of service and this was her act of service for the day. What an awesome lady! Someday when I can actually afford knives that are expensive and nice, I will do the same thing for some poor young person. Here is a picture of what the knife looks like.

Contemplating...

Tonight we discussed buying a mobile home.  Weird.  My grandparents live in one (or did until just recently). 

PROS:  nice, clean, safe community with LDS managers who are in our ward
             Our own home--no more sharing walls with other people
             A (small) yard
             2+ bedrooms
             Half the rent
             We'll OWN a home--I can't wait to own something big
             swimming pool, park, basketball courts, and clubhouse
             Right near the river where we like to ride our bikes
             not a lot of traffic

CONS:  We'd have to BUY it--we could do it financially, but that's a big commitment-scary
              A little further away from work and school
              Feels like a senior community despite the children running around
              We'd have to pay utilities--at the place we are now we don't have to pay
              Honestly....not much else


A couple in our ward told us about it and I'm excited about it.  I drove down there and it sure it a nice community.    Now all we have to do is get out of our current contract.  Anyone want to rent our apartment?????? :)
